Just not in the dark :P To be honest, the roaches and other bugs weren't really much of a concern to me as the dangers of traversing the unpredictable terrain were; what with the load I was carrying on my back! I knew that if I were to trip and fall, the ADDED weight on my back would do ALOT more damage to me than if I fell without it. So yeah, my biggest fears in such situations would be twisting an ankle, breaking a leg or getting a nasty wound - only because it'll interfere with the rest of the study, if you know what I mean ;) Oh yeah...and rabies too. Rabies = very bad virus, so bad that EVERYONE EVER INFECTED has died. Except one, she was saved by a new radical treatment. Gotta make sure I'm vaccinated before I leave ;) Hey, the forest is fun.

Yeah, I don’t think that occurs in Brunei…but I have seen a picture of that spider before and I KNOW I DO NOT want to walk into it’s web.

Strangely enough, the image of a big black spider like that hung in its web between the tree trunks constantly stayed in my head as I was groping through the forest in the dark.

Oh yeah and don’t get me wrong, I LOVE adventure…but I also have the house to take care of cos my domestic help is out of the country for a while, so yeah :)
